CAPTAIN MIKE GENEST – OWNER / FOUNDER
Mike Genest is a well seasoned Captain with over 15 years of experience fishing in Lake Ontario. He is a coast guard certified Captain and is up to date with his first aid and CPR. Along with being a fishing charter captain, Mike is also a Registered Nurse with Niagara Health.
Mike is also a member of the Ontario Sport Fishing Guides Association and abides by all rules and guidelines set out by the Canada Shipping Act 2000.
Fishin’ Clinician Charters is a fully licensed and insured corporation.
CAPTAIN JOE SANDERS
Joe has been with Fishin’ Clinician Charters for over 8 years working as Captain Mike’s First Mate. In 2021 Joe completed and received his SVOP (Captains certification) with Transport Canada and is now an official charter Captain with Fishin’ Clinician Charters.

Born June 2022, Ben will soon be learning everything there is to know about fishing from his dad and will be the future owner and Captain of Fishin’ Clinician Charters.

Captain Mike was very friendly and knowledgeable. My husband and I caught 3 nice salmon. We would definitely fish with Captain Mike again. He knew where the fish were and taught us a lot of things we didn’t know about Canada. He even kept us out later than our scheduled time. Next time we’re in Canada, we’ll look him up again!!!

Family’s 1st time Fishing with captain Mike – Half Day Trip (AM) on June 29, 2022
This was my family’s first time fishing on a boat and on Lake Ontario. We couldn’t have asked for a better morning on the lake weather wise and we were out of the slip by 0600. As expected, Captain Mike was very knowledgeable with the lake and it was evident that his sole focus was ensuring my family of five had a memorable experience. Captain was very good with the kids and encouraged them every step of the way. Landing fish is never a guarantee, but we were fortunate for everyone to land a fish by 0900. The action slowed down after mid-morning, but the captain made us feel at home on his new 25’ aluminum boat. The boat had impressive fishing equipment and I never knew so many data was pulled to assist with trolling (all taken at depth of lures ) In total, the family landed 6 fish (4 x king salmon, 2 lake trout). The largest was a 23lb salmon. We definitely enjoyed our experience with captain Mike and the kids already want to go on another trip. Would highly recommend captain Mike, because he genuinely wants any group to have their experience of a lifetime.

Excellent half day fishing trip – Half Day Trip (AM) on June 13, 2022
Captain Mike took us out on his brand new boat. The water and weather were amazing. We left on time and headed out. Within the first hour we landed a fish of the life time. The 5 hour trip yielded 4 very nice catches, a few smaller ones, and a several that took it upon themselves to escape the hook. We had a child on his first real chartered trip, between Captain Mike and the fish he quickly conquered his fears and we all had a great time. I highly recommend the Fishin’ Clinician!

Best Day Ever!! – Half Day Trip (PM) on April 30, 2022
What an enjoyable afternoon and evening!! From start to finish we received a warm, easy and genuinely friendly welcome from Mike and Joe. They got us on fish and they were beauties!! We went 9 for 9. 3 different species 5 King Salmon, 2 Lake Trout and 2 Cohos. All the fish fought great! Spectacular!!!! Most meat I’ve ever seen caught in all my years of fishing. It was a really cool memory that I’ll never forget. Thanks Mike and Joe, we couldn’t have more fun than that.

Afternoon/Evening 5 hour Trip – Half Day Trip (PM) on August 21, 2021
The entire trip went perfect. The boat was ready when we arrived and just had to drop lines and the trip was underway. All of the equipment was available and in excellent shape including rods, downriggers and sonar equipment. The fish, as always, have a mind of there own but eventually the bite turned on and caught fish for everyone on board, the largest being a 28 pound salmon.
I would recommend this charter company to anyone wanting a professional experience with a fantastic captain and crew. My second charter with Mike.

Great half-day trip with Captain Steve – Half Day Trip (PM) on September 4, 2021
The experience:
We were out for roughly three hours and in that time had three fish on and were able to reel in two of them. Salmon fishing is not really for kids; They put up a heck of a fight and definitely require a fighting mentality, position and the muscle to reel in a very strong fish. Still, the trip was a total success and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Steve and Mike for their expertise!
The captain:
Steve clearly has a passion for fishing. He knew where to go to find the fish and rigged up 5 rods to fish with concurrently. He is great with children and makes sure that they (and everyone) are safe. When you are talking to him, he seems to have the ability to keep his eye on all five fishing rods at the same time and spring into action as soon as there is a fish on. Since we had kids with us he was happy to control the rod while the kids reeled in the line as much as they could. Great soft skills.
The boat:
We went out on their 27’ boat and while we acknowledge that we aren’t the average clientele (3 adults and 2 kids) we were hoping for some more comfortable seating on and below deck. The room that was available below deck to relax was cluttered however I don’t fault the crew for this at all. As I said, we aren’t the average clientele and having kids they didn’t always want to be on deck. The bathroom (head) on board is tiny. Very tiny. Think airplane. If you need to use the restroom, do so before going out to the lake.

What an amazing day on the water with Fishin Clinician Charters and Captain Mike. My three boys had the time of their lives and will never forget this experience. They couldn’t stop talking about all the salmon and trout we caught which made our freshly caught dinner even better. I also included my father on this trip. He used to be an avid fisherman but hasn’t been able to get out in some time. It was great to see him bringing in a huge rainbow with huge smile on his face to match. We met up with Captain Mike for a half day fishing charter and enjoyed ourselves tremendously! Captain Mike is well equipped with gear and knowledge, and made all 5 of us feel at home. We caught a few and few got away, that’s fishing! Highlight was a beautiful Rainbow trout and the smile on my fathers face. Priceless! Will come again to get the ones that got away!
